Terms of Service

These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and Wastelands Japan K.K. for your use of ShadowLang. By accessing or using ShadowLang, creating an account, or purchasing paid access, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree, do not use ShadowLang. If you use ShadowLang on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

We may provide translations of these Terms for convenience. The English version is the controlling version. If a translation conflicts with the English version, the English version will govern to the extent permitted by applicable law.

You must be at least 13 years old to use ShadowLang unless we provide a dedicated child or guardian-approved flow. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you must have permission from a parent or guardian.

Some features may have additional age, location, account, payment, hardware, or content restrictions. We may restrict or disable those features where appropriate.

You are responsible for your account, credentials, devices, and all activity under your account. Keep your account information accurate and notify us if you believe your account has been compromised.

We may suspend, limit, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, create risk, misuse credits or payments, infringe rights, or threaten the security or operation of ShadowLang.

ShadowLang provides language-learning tools, including conversational AI, speech recognition, text-to-speech, flashcards, generated learning assets, study tracking, offline study features, and related experiments.

ShadowLang may change, add, remove, suspend, or discontinue features, models, providers, credit rules, plans, limits, and availability at any time. Some features may be beta, experimental, rate-limited, or unavailable in some regions.

We may offer paid subscriptions, credits, trials, promotional access, or other paid features. Prices, included credits, billing periods, taxes, renewal terms, cancellation rules, and plan limits will be shown at checkout or in the product when paid access is offered.

Monthly subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled. If you cancel, cancellation stops future renewals and you keep access until the end of the current billing period. We do not provide partial-month refunds or refunds for unused credits except where required by law, for duplicate charges or billing errors, or where we approve a refund for a significant service failure.

Included monthly credits reset or expire at the end of each billing period unless a plan states otherwise. Credits have no cash value, are not transferable, and may be limited, changed, or revoked if issued by mistake, abused, or used in violation of these Terms.

Plan upgrades take effect immediately with proration where supported by our payment processor. Plan downgrades take effect at the next billing period. Failed payments may suspend, limit, or terminate paid features after retries or a grace period.

You retain ownership of content you submit, upload, speak, write, or otherwise provide to ShadowLang, subject to any rights held by others. You are responsible for having the rights needed to provide that content.

You grant Wastelands Japan K.K. a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, transferable license to host, store, copy, transmit, display, perform, modify, adapt, translate, analyze, create derivative works from, train or evaluate models on, and otherwise use your content to operate, secure, personalize, support, market, and improve ShadowLang and related services.

This license includes your chats, prompts, audio, transcripts, uploads, flashcard activity, study records, feedback, generated outputs, and related metadata. It continues as needed for lawful business purposes, backups, logs, safety, security, legal compliance, aggregated or deidentified data, and derived model or analytical artifacts.

AI and speech features may generate inaccurate, incomplete, offensive, unsafe, or unsuitable content. ShadowLang is for language learning and educational practice only. It is not professional, medical, legal, financial, immigration, psychological, or emergency advice.

You should review outputs before relying on them. Similar or identical outputs may be generated for other users. We do not promise that outputs are unique, protectable, non-infringing, correct, or appropriate for your purpose.

Some features process your content through third-party AI, speech, storage, hosting, analytics, security, and payment providers. Your use of those features may also be affected by provider terms, technical limits, and availability.

We may offer optional local or on-device models. You are responsible for your hardware, software, downloaded models, local security, and any third-party model licenses that apply. Local models may have different quality, safety, speed, privacy, and compatibility from hosted models.

• Do not use ShadowLang for unlawful, harmful, abusive, deceptive, exploitative, infringing, or security-threatening activity.
• Do not upload, submit, or generate content that violates rights, privacy, law, platform rules, or these Terms.
• Do not attempt to bypass security, credit limits, rate limits, payment controls, access controls, age gates, or provider restrictions.
• Do not scrape, crawl, resell, reverse engineer, overload, interfere with, or extract data from ShadowLang except as permitted by law or by our written permission.
• Do not use ShadowLang to create sexual content involving minors or to expose minors to adult, romantic, or otherwise age-restricted features.

ShadowLang, including its software, design, prompts, workflows, learning systems, generated asset pipelines, trademarks, logos, original content, and other materials, is owned by Wastelands Japan K.K. or its licensors. These Terms do not transfer any ownership in ShadowLang to you.

ShadowLang may link to or depend on third-party services, models, providers, datasets, app stores, payment processors, and platforms. We are not responsible for third-party services, and your use of them may be governed by their own terms and policies.

You may stop using ShadowLang at any time. We may suspend or terminate access, remove content, revoke credits, or refuse service if we believe you violated these Terms, created risk, caused harm, misused the service, or if we discontinue a feature or the service.

ShadowLang is provided "as is" and "as available" to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that ShadowLang will be uninterrupted, secure, accurate, error-free, available, or fit for your particular purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Wastelands Japan K.K. and its officers, directors, employees, contractors, providers, and licensors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, punitive, or lost-profit damages, or for loss of data, content, goodwill, or business opportunity.

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Wastelands Japan K.K. from claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your content, your use of ShadowLang, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of law or third-party rights.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protections in your jurisdiction cannot be waived. Subject to those protections, the courts located in Tokyo, Japan will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or ShadowLang.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we may notify you through ShadowLang, by email, or by other reasonable means. Continued use of ShadowLang after the updated Terms take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
