AI, Speech, And Model Improvement

ShadowLang uses AI and speech technologies to provide language practice, transcription, text-to-speech, translation, generated learning content, and related features. Your content may be sent to service providers that help us run these features.

Unless we provide a different setting or legal requirement applies, we may use your chats, prompts, audio, transcripts, uploads, interactions, study records, feedback, generated outputs, and related metadata to train, fine-tune, evaluate, test, personalize, and improve ShadowLang and its AI, speech, and learning systems.

Some providers may use submitted content to improve their services if that use is enabled by our configuration, your settings, or the provider terms. We may offer separate controls for ShadowLang improvement and provider improvement where required or appropriate.

How We Share Information

  • With service providers and processors that support hosting, databases, authentication, storage, AI, speech, analytics, payments, security, communications, support, and operations.
  • With authentication providers, payment processors, AI providers, speech providers, storage providers, and other third-party services when you use features that depend on them.
  • With administrators, contractors, advisors, and support personnel who need access to operate, secure, support, audit, or improve the service.
  • With other users or the public when you choose to share content or when a feature is designed for public or collaborative use.
  • With law enforcement, regulators, courts, or other parties when we believe disclosure is required by law or needed to protect rights, safety, security, or property.
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar business transaction.
  • In aggregated, deidentified, or anonymized form for analytics, research, reporting, training, benchmarking, and product improvement.

Cookies And Browser Storage

We use cookies and browser storage for sign-in, security, locale preferences, app settings, offline study, cached media, review sync, and other functionality. You can control some storage through your browser settings, but disabling it may break important parts of ShadowLang.

Local And On-Device Models

We may offer optional local or on-device models for speech-to-text, text-to-speech, conversation, or other AI features. When local models are used, some processing may happen on your device, but account data, sync data, telemetry, settings, and other records may still be sent to ShadowLang if the feature requires it or you enable it.

Retention

We may retain information, including complete chat logs, speech transcripts, uploaded files, study records, generated outputs, metadata, logs, and derived records, for as long as needed for service operation, safety, security, fraud prevention, support, analytics, research, product improvement, model training and evaluation, legal compliance, and business records.

Deletion requests may not remove backups, logs, aggregated or deidentified data, derived model artifacts, records needed for legal, safety, security, fraud-prevention, or accounting reasons, or content already shared with others.

Your Choices And Rights

You may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, objection, or withdrawal of consent, depending on where you live and which laws apply. You can contact us at privacy@wastelands.co.jp to make a request.

You may also be able to update some account, locale, speech, and improvement settings inside ShadowLang. If you opt out of an improvement use, that opt-out may not affect processing that already occurred, provider processing outside our control, aggregated or deidentified data, or uses required to operate and secure the service.

Children And Minors

ShadowLang is not intended for children under 13, and children under 13 may not create accounts unless we provide a dedicated child or guardian-approved flow. Users under the age of majority in their jurisdiction must have permission from a parent or guardian to use ShadowLang.

International Transfers

We are based in Japan and may process, store, and transfer information in Japan, the United States, Europe, and other countries where we or our providers operate. Those countries may have privacy laws different from those in your location.

Changes To This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may notify you through ShadowLang, by email, or by other reasonable means. The updated policy applies from the date stated on the policy unless a later effective date is provided.
